Summer Walks: St Camillus' Hospital and area - Wed July 13th

    Our next outing on Wed. 13th July starts from St.Camillus' Hospital, Shelbourne Road at  7PM.  There will be a brief talk on the hospital which is the former City Home and previously Limerick Union Workhouse.  We will then walk to St' Brigid's graveyard in Kileely and finally to the Pauper's Burial Ground at Watch House Cross taking in other sites of historical interest along the way.

Summer Walks: King's Island Military Graveyard - Wed June 8th at 7:00 PM

 King's Island Military Cemetery was opened in 1856 and contains 150 burial plots, 39 of which are Commonwealth War Graves.  It is located in St Marys Park and and is unknown to many Limerick people.  Tony Browne will give a guided tour of the graveyard and other historical features in the area. (Villiers Alms House & St Munchin's Church).

Assemble in front of King John's Castle at 7PM and we will proceed on foot to the cemetery.

What did Limerick people do in 1916?

The scheduled lecture will not be held due to the lecturer becoming ill    Tom Donovan will present a lecture called ‘What did Limerick people do in 1916?'   While we have heard much about Dublin during Easter Week, this lecture will focus on the part played by Limerick people.  The lecture will commence at 8 p.m on Monday Apr 11th.

Lecture By Eoin McGarry - Diving The RMS Lusitania

Dungarvan diver Eoin McGarry, one of the best technical salvage divers in the world has visited the wreck of RMS Lusitania many times.  He has collected a great deal of evidence about the sinking which took place following a torpedo strike off the Old Head of Kinsale in April 1915 and was instrumental in drawing the US into WW1.
