My grandfather Eamon De Valera by Eamon O Cuiv

Limerick Historical Society will hold its first lecture of the winter season on Monday October 14th next at 8 p.m..
Éamon Ó Cuív will discuss his grandfather Eamon De Valera, former President of Ireland and his limerick connections.
Lecture in Room T17, Tara Building, (near Lime Tree Theatre), Mary Immaculate College. Everybody is welcome.

De Valera was reared in Bruree by his grandmother Elizabeth Coll, his aunt Hannie and uncle Pat. He attended the local national school and later walked a journey of  seven miles to the CBS secondary school in Charleville. He had a natural ability for mathematics and he received a £20 scholarship to Blackrock College in 1898.
Éamon Ó Cuív was born in Dublin, in 1950, He was educated at Oatlands College, Dublin and at UCD where he earned a BSc. He has been a TD for Galway West since 1992.
